The Cloud IX Anchorman safety leash is designed to allow the wing to be released and drift in a controlled manner in the water. Importer Jan Muellers explains when this can be useful in an interview.

There are moments when you get properly tangled up with your wing leash – anyone who has ever been spat out of a breaking wave completely knotted up in their gear knows what that means. Nevertheless, releasing the wing leash on the water has always been a no-go until now. The risk of the wing disappearing forever in a moment of inattention is simply too great.

The Cloud IX Anchorman safety leash aims to provide a solution – a kind of sea anchor for wings. Jan Muellers from importer Haiku Sports explains what it is all about.

Jan, what is the idea behind the Cloud IX Anchorman?

In principle, it is a leash to which a small "parachute" is attached. It opens via a release mechanism and the leash detaches from the body. Once in the water, the wing is then attached to a sea anchor – meaning it only drifts slowly and does not fly away.

What is the intended use of this system?

There are several situations where it makes sense. For example, if you have become tangled with both your wing and board leash after a fall or a "wash-through." You can then release the wing leash without the wing running off. This can minimize the risk of injury in the waves.

How is the system triggered?

In principle, it is a simple mechanism. You push the trigger away from your body, which separates the wing from your body and opens the sea anchor.

Where is the ideal place to attach the system?

The Anchorman safety system should be used in combination with a waist leash.

How much does the Cloud IX Anchorman system cost and where can you order it?

The leash costs 149 euros and is available in the Haiku Sports online shop.
