Jimmy Lewis Foil Boards Compared: Flying V vs V2 vs VM vs Twisted V vs Superfly
Jimmy Lewis builds five distinct foil board lines, and each one exists for a different rider and a different day on the water. As the exclusive European distributor we get asked the same question constantly: which one is right for me? Here is the honest answer, model by model.
Flying V: the foil SUP with maximum stability
The Flying V is Jimmy's foil SUP. It carries maximum volume and blocky rails, so you can ride a much shorter board than usual and still paddle it comfortably. The beveled chine rails make lift-off and touch-down easy, and the tail lift keeps the tail clear when pumping. Sizes run from 5'11" and 105L up to 7'11" and 180L, so there is a size for heavier riders and beginners who want a stable platform under their feet. If you paddle into your foiling, start here.
Flying V2: wider, more compact, SUP and wing
The Flying V2 advances the original Flying V design: a bit wider and more compact, stable on the water while staying agile and light on foil. The proven waterplane bottom runs all the way back to the foil base for easy lift-off and touch-down. It suits both SUP foilers and wing foilers, with four sizes from 5'6" and 96L to 6'9" and 138L, in Signature Sandwich or Carbon Sandwich construction with two footstraps included.
Flying VM: the compact wing board
The Flying VM is the dedicated wing foil board of the family, and its bottom shape has a great story: Jimmy modelled it on a seaplane hull, a shape he first built about 20 years ago for North Shore lifeguard Vitor Marcal. The result is a board that lands on water without sticking, redirects you back up onto the foil with little drag, and takes off fast. Sizes are compact: 4'8" and 60L up to 5'8" and 95L. If you already fly and want a small, lively wing board, this is the one.
Twisted V: built for downwind
The Twisted V is the downwind SUP foil board. It hunts swell, generates high lift-off speed, and its strong V and sharp rails give fast acceleration and an easy lift-off. It also works for light wind wing sessions. One honest warning straight from the product sheet: this board is not designed for flat water paddle-ups. Six sizes from 7'10" x 20" and 113L to 8'6" x 24" and 148L.
Superfly: prone, pure and simple
The Superfly, designed by Marlon Lewis, is the prone foilboard: lots of volume in a compact form for excellent paddling and take-offs, low swing weight on foil, and both Tuttle box and plate attachments. Sizes from 4'8" and 31.6L to 5'8" and 52.7L. There is also the Superfly FD, developed together with the Foildrive team, which works both as a pure prone board and as a Foildrive-assisted board.
The quick answer
